The humanitarian activities by the US military and America made a firm foundation for the present prosperity and development of the Republic of Korea. I believe our work has increased the recognition of Americans for their courage and concern for human beings.
We received two official certificates from the Guinness World Records for Hungnam Evacuation and the Number of Countries Who Supported South Korea as follows:
1) Hungnam Evacuation
A record of 14,000 civilian refugees were rescued by the SS Merchant Victory, a US merchant ship at the Hungnam Evacuation Operation of December 1950 during the Korean War. The Guinness Book of World Records has certified this as the world's greatest rescue operation by a single ship.
Date: September 21, 2004
2) Number of Countries Who Supported South Korea
The greatest number of countries to support an ally in war is 67 and this was achieved by nations supporting the Republic of Korea during the Korean War of1950-1953.
We know that this support by so many nations was possible because of the leadership by the United States.
Anyone joining us would be reminded of America's commitment to the world at large and the sacrifice in order to bring peace and freedom to the world.
Our display of "Thanks Runs Forever – Sailing for Life Korean War Photo Display" would give pride, honor, and confidence to all Americans.
